Spikey Wikey – Shining Free VIP (Single Purpose Remix) [Drum & Bass]

A new compilation album full of brand new tracks is appearing, and nearing release! It is the second main entry in Equinity’s series, and it is titled “Catalyst”! The whole album is incredible, and let us give you a taster of the kind of quality and emotion to expect from it, with this very emotional remix by Single Purpose, of an already very emotional track…

When I heard Spikey Wikey’s VIP of “Shining Free” for the first time, I teared up. Those melodic vocal chops, made out of Dash’s voice from the acclaimed song “I’ll Fly”, are reminding me so much of similar melodic chops in Omnipony’s VIP of “Clouds”, and giving the same kind of emotion… It is further empowered by the fact that those vocals come from the episode “Tanks for the Memories”, which is definitely a very emotional episode, and Spikey Wikey aka Tacos definitely aced the story-telling part with not only vocal chops but also creative sampling of dialog lines from the episode. And to add to it all, it was released along a PMV!

It seems like I wasn’t the only one who was moved by that track, as Single Purpose went all-out and crafted such an incredible remix of it, emphasizing on all of the strong points of the original in a brand new format, and extending the emotional vibes with new creative ideas that make it shine on its own, so well. From the amazing Ambient-like intro and the early use of samples from the episode, I’m already getting shivers and we just know that it’s gonna be something very emotional. The various effects used to sublimate Dash’s “shining free” line from the song, and making it even more emotional, were so well-thought and are just perfect to bring new flavors. How it then repeats the “change it all” line, is something I’m especially fond of. That was such an amazing idea, and it just makes it SO emotional, like we hear Dash’s heartfelt plea and desperate cry for change, like we can actually feel it and all that character depth. Such amazing vision and intent from Single Purpose is so commendable, not to mention that in addition to all that creative work on the vocals and dialog lines, the gorgeous DnB instrumental is taking us in its warm yet very powerful embrace at all times! The break including those memorable lines from that very emotional part of the episode, is doing wonders along the piano, to bring that emotion again full force. The deep and melodic bassline coming in then, just takes us higher, like we’re flying with Dash, and makes for so much emotion again as we dive deep into the remix’s last part. I seem to repeat the word “emotion” a lot but it really is what this remix, and music in general, is all about to me. And it is why music is everything. By featuring this remix on Cider Party, my hope is that this share could let you experience powerful emotions as well, from what Single Purpose did and what you feel for MLP!

And it’s not the only amazing gem awaiting you in Equinity’s compilation album “Catalyst”! It will be dropping December 27th, and having listened to the album early, I can tell that you’re in for an awesome ride full of surprises! Fun fact, this has got to be the freshest art feature we ever did. That artwork by MirtaSH just got released under a few hours before I started working on the upload, then me and Tacos decided to use it, but it was lacking Dash’s cutie mark, so I went and edited it in myself! All to provide the most fitting and freshest art, along the freshest music! So this round of cider is especially fresh. I hope Applejack would approve!
